Designer(s): Zero

Featured in: Zero's Gambit

Match Type: MM (for 9 players)

Rules:

In this game, players will attempt to score points by playing numbered cards in 1 of 3 rooms. The MM will last for 11 rounds, each lasting 24 hours.

Each will be given a set of 12 cards, numbered [1,2,3,...,8,9,-10,-11,-12]. Each round, players will select a card and one of the 3 rooms.

The card and then room effects will apply to each room. The card effects will take place in order from smallest to largest in absolute value. (Order of list). All cards played will have their original effects resolve, even if they are replaced. The rooms score is the value of all the cards in the room after all the powers have been applied. Afterwards the room effects will be applied, this will multiply your rooms score if you meet the criteria.

The players in the room with the highest score will gain a point. If there is a 2 room tie for the highest score, the third room will score instead. If all 3 are tied, everyone will score. The players with the most points after 11 rounds will win. If you fail to submit in a round (either room or card), then you be given a random room and/or card. In this case you cannot score points for this round.

You cannot trade cards with other players.

Players can spend 5 garnets, to gain an extra copy of 1 of the cards. You will receive it at the start of the next round. It will also announced the purchase of a card, and the value of the card mod3

Players can spend 3 garnets to hide who went to each room. The total number of people in each room will be revealed instead.

Each round, only who went into which room, and the total score of each room will be announced. Players must keep track of their total points themselves.

The 3 rooms are:

Null: This rooms score is multiplied by 1.5, if the sum of the numbered cards in the room equals 0 mod 3.

Solitary: This rooms score is multiplied by 1.5, if the sum of the numbered cards in the room equals 1 mod 3.

Duel: This rooms score is multiplied by 1.5, if the sum of the numbered cards in the room equals 2 mod 3.

The effects of the 12 numbered cards are:

1: Replace all the cards with the highest value in your room with their negative. E,g [1,5,6,6] —>[1,5,-6,-6]

2: If there are multiple of the same number in your room (other than 2), Ignore their effects. If there are multiple 2’s in the same room, this applies to all rooms.

3: If you are alone in a room, replace your card with a 30 card. E.g [3] —> [30]

4: Ignore the effects of all numbered cards that end in the same number as the total of your room. (If your rooms total is 16, ignore the 6 power)

5: If 1 of the 3 rooms is empty, you score a point.

6: If the sum of the numbered cards in your room is a multiple of 5, add a 15 card to the room. If the sum of the numbered cards is a multiple of 7, add a -14 card to the room.

7 : Every positive numbered card in your room is replaced with a 7. Every negative numbered card in your room is replaced with a -7.

8: Replace all the cards in your room with a single card. Its value is the product of the largest and smallest number removed. Has no effect if there is only 1 card in the room.

9: If there are exactly 3 People In your room, change the multiplier you receive for the rooms effect from 1.5x to 2x for this round.

-10: Everyone In your room must give you a garnet if they have one. Players who lose a garnet, will be told so in their confessional, but not who took it. Players who would gain garnets will be told how many they gained and who from. If more than 1 person plays this in a room, garnets will only be taken if they have enough to give to each player.

-11: If your rooms final score (after room effects) is between -15 and -5 , and there is more than 1 person in your room, you score a point.

-12: You learn which cards were played by the players in the other 2 rooms. You don’t know who played which card, or which card was in which room.

The winner(s) is the player(s) with the most points. They each receive a ToL. If there is a single winner, they shall receive 2 ToL and an opal.

The loser(s) is the player(s) with the least points. If there is a tie, the winners will decide the EC through majority vote. If there is no consensus, garnet counts will break the tie.

Players will receive 1 garnet for every point they earn during the MM. These will be given out at end of the Mainmatch.

Opal challenge: Be the only player to not receive the 1.5x room bonus in a round. If more than 1 person completes the challenge, each player who completed the task will receive 3 garnets instead of an opal.

Players may give examples in the lounge, and I will show the calculation of its score to aid your understanding of the game.
