Mainmatch 6: Cardinals

This game is played on a 7x7 board.

At the start of the game, each player is dealt 2 of the 8 cardinal direction cards: N,NE,E,SE,S,SW,W,NW.

You will not receive 2 cards that contain the same letter.

You will receive 1 Single Letter Card (Horizontal or Vertical Cardinal Card),

and 1 Double Letter Card (Diagonal Cardinal Card).

You will not have a hand identical to any other player.

Maddie as the winner of the last Mainmatch will start with an additional cardinal card.

--

Each Player starts in the centre of the board. (Yellow Square)

In a round you will see the incoming board, and the approaching board.

The Incoming Board, will determine how many points are earnt this round.

The Approaching Board will be the Incoming board next round.

You will only know when the last round is, by the lack of an approaching Board.

There will be at least 7 rounds, and each round lasts 24 hours.

--

Each Board is filled with numbers.

During a round, players may trade cardinal cards. You may hold a maximum of 4 Cardinal Cards.

If you accept a gift that causes you to have more than 4 Cardinal Cards, excess cardinal cards are destroyed at random.

At the end of a round, players will move based on the cardinal cards they are holding.

If you move off the board, you will return to the centre yellow square and your movement will end.

At the end of the movement phase, each player gains or lose points equal to the number of the space they are on.

Some Spaces are labelled "R". These will give you a random cardinal card instead of points.

--

Each round the number of people at each position on the board will be revealed.

You will not be told your current position on the board.

--

Players with the most points at the end of the game are the winners and earn a ToL.

Players with the least points at the end of the game earn a ToD.

If there are multiple losers, the winner(s) decides who keeps their ToD, the rest are discarded.

If there is a solo winner in addition to receiving an extra ToL. They will get the chance to steal an item from another player. If there is a solo winner, items of players not holding a ToD are locked in, and you may not gift or trade items. The winner then has 24 hours to select a player and guess an item they are holding. If they guess correctly and they are holding the item, they steal it. You cannot guess the Onyx Item.

Challenge Tome:

Reward: You may gain one N,S,E,W Cardinal Card of your choice at any point during the game.

Challenge: Visit the 4 corners of the board during the game.

Penalty: You lose 7 points

Please decide whether you would like to take the Challenge Tome in the next 24 hours.

@Contestant reminder to submit for challenge tome before next deadline

I think it’s impossible, but I’ll add this rule before round 1 ends,

In the case of a 8 way tie, the player(s) who ended their movement on the centre square the most times, wins

If this is also a tie, addition rounds will be played.

Also as another note, if there are any outstanding gifts/trades that have not been responded to, do ping us again. In general a load will go through after we wake up, so helps us cover the case if me or red miss any during that time. (Though this shouldn’t be the case, I just want to make sure all gift/trades are accounted for).

All gifts within 12 hours of deadline should be processed within half an hour, and will most likely be processed within 5 mins.

Gifts and trades without a ping, are not considered valid.

As an aside, try to avoid doing lots of trades immediately before deadline, as time to notify means we cannot guarantee enough time for recipient to accept. All accepted gifts and trades before deadline will be processed. This is the case for all MM’s but felt it good to remind.

tldr: these are admin notes about trades and gifting to help things run smoothly
