MM8: Pig Starvation

In Pig Starvation, each player owns a pig and tries to position the pigs in the pigpen so another player's pig starves.

This game has a 10-minute pre-game phase, and then takes place over multiple rounds, each lasting 10 minutes.

🐷 The Pigpen

The game is played on a 7-cell hexagonal pigpen. Each player owns a pig that starts with 10 hunger points on the 'outer ring' of the pigpen, marked by their player token. There is also one food token that starts on the center of the board. The image is an example and may not be the starting positions during the game.

🔃 Swapping

Each round, players may ping @Dealer in their submissions channel and state their intention to line up in a queue to the Dealer Room. You must ping @Dealer for it to count. A player may only stay in the Dealer Room up to 1 minute per visit. Upon entering the Dealer Room, you will be told the name of the last player to enter the Dealer Room this round. In the Dealer Room, you may select two adjacent cells to swap tokens. Please type your intended swap in your submissions channel. Once you leave the Dealer Room, you may not change your submission for that visit.

You may normally only make up to one swap per round. However, if you enter the Dealer Room after already making a swap in the round, you will automatically spend 2 garnets and you may make another swap. If you had already made a swap in the round and you enter the Dealer Room, you will still be charged garnets even if you leave the Dealer Room without making a swap.

When the timer for the round ends, a player currently in the Dealer Room will still be able to make a swap (while following the 1 minute Dealer Room timer) before the round officially ends. Every player still in the queue will automatically be at the start of the queue for the next round in the same order. At the end of the round, all swaps will be processed in order. Any pigs not adjacent to the food token will not eat and lose 2 hunger points. If the food token is in the center cell and adjacent to all pigs, there won't be enough food to feed all pigs and all pigs lose 1 hunger point.

If you have made the last swap in a round and the last swap involves the center cell (cell D), your pig will lose 1 additional hunger point. It is not possible to go below 0 hunger points. The newly updated pigpen will be revealed with all tokens that have moved starting in their new positions for the following round, and then the timer for the next round will begin.

🐽 Rival Pigs

At the start of the game, players will be given the name of another player. That player's pig will be your rival pig and in order to win the Main Match, your rival pig must end the Main Match with 0 hunger points. Each player's pig will be another player's rival pig.

👑 Winning

The Main Match ends when a pig has reached 0 hunger points. Any pig that has reached 0 hunger points is a starved pig and its corresponding player becomes the Elimination Candidate.

If there are multiple starved pigs, the tied player who has made the fewest swaps throughout the Main Match is the Elimination Candidate. If this is tied, the tied player whose first swap happened latest is the Elimination Candidate. If this is still tied, the tie will be broken by randomization.

After this, if you are not the Elimination Candidate and your rival pig became a starved pig, you win the Main Match.

If there is one winner, they receive 2 Tokens of Life.

If there are multiple winners, all joint winners receive 1 Token of Life.

The winner(s) will receive 1 garnet for every 2 hunger points their pig has remaining.
