In Dog’s Judgment, players compete in several events while bribing the terrible and corrupt Dog.
This game has a 10-minute pre-game phase, and then takes place over 9 rounds, each lasting 10 minutes.
Players begin with 7 cards numbered 1-7. Each round, players may play one of their numbered cards. When a player plays a card, they declare which two events the card is played on. Cards disappear after play.
Not submitting a card within the round time limit results in no card being played on any event.
The five events players can play their cards on are:
Three of these events: Charge Tower, Remove One, and Median Meridian, have Victory Points (VP) confined to their own respective events (e.g. Charge Tower has Charge Tower VP, Remove One has Remove One VP, and so on).
In the Exchange Store, you gain 1 card based on the card you’ve played. When you play a card on Exchange Store, you must declare the value of the card you would like to gain. The value of the card you gain must be an integer between -2 or +2 of the card you play. The value of the card you gain cannot be below 1 or above 7.
Cards played on Charge Tower are always played in ascending order (1 first, 2 next, 7 last). If multiple players play the same number on Charge Tower, that number is omitted.
All unique numbers played are added to the Tower’s Charge.
The Charge Tower can have a charge level of 1-11 and starts at level 1. Going past level 11 will make the Tower loop back to level 1 and break the Tower’s threshold. A player that breaks the Tower's threshold scores Charge Tower VP equal to 8 minus the number they played. Charge levels are always maintained between rounds whether the threshold is broken or not.
This concept is borrowed from The Devil’s Plan franchise.
In Remove One, the player that plays the lowest unique number scores Remove One VP equal to the number they played.
The player(s) that played the number closest to the unique median of all numbers played on this event scores Median Meridian VP equal to the number they played. Duplicate instances for a number are only counted once in the list for Median Meridian. For example, if three people play 1, 1, and 2, the median will be 1.5 (median of 1 and 2) rather than 1 (median of 1, 1, and 2)
Bribing the Dog affects the winning and losing conditions of this game.
At the start of the Main Match, there is a Win Token on each of Charge Tower, Remove One, and Median Meridian, as well as one Lose Token on Charge Tower.
At the end of the Main Match, the Dog will make its judgement. All events will give as many Tokens of Life as its number of Win Tokens to the winner of the event, and the loser of the event with the Lose Token will become the Elimination Candidate.
The player that played the highest unique number for this event successfully bribes the Dog and can move up to one token (Win or Lose) to another Victory Points event. You must specify your intended token movement when you play a card.
If you successfully bribe the Dog in the same round you score for an event, you score 3 additional VP for the event you have scored for in that round.
At the end of each round, only the players that scored for each event, the current charge level for Charge Tower, and any token movements (but not who moved them) are announced.
The winner of each event is the player with the most Victory Points for that event. They win as many Tokens of Life as there are Win Tokens in that event at the end of the Main Match.
If there is a tie for an event that has at least 1 Win Token, all tied players win 1 Token of Life. If 6 or more Tokens of Life would be handed out, all players lose 1 Token of Life.
Players that win an event earn 2 garnets for each Token of Life they win.
After Tokens of Life have been handed out, the player without a Token of Life with the least Victory Points for the event with the Lose Token is the Elimination Candidate. Elimination Candidates are determined AFTER winners are determined.
