Hi Lo Race - 9 players
In Hilo Race, each player will control a piece on a gameboard that has spaces numbered from negative 15 to positive 15. All pieces begin on space 0.
The winner will be the first player who reaches either finish line (+15 or -15), and the elimination candidate will be the player farthest from the finish line that the winner just crossed. As soon as someone reaches the finish line, the game will end immediately.
Each player will have the following cards: +-1, +-2, +-3, +-4. They may play one card on their turn as either positive or negative to move their piece. When you run out of cards, you will receive another set of +-1, +-2, +-3, +-4 cards.
After you play one card, you decide to use your power. The powers are listed below.
The player who has the first power listed will go first, the second power listed will go second, the third power listed will go third...
Each player will publicly submit their turn in order, not simultaneously. There will be 15 minutes before the first 2 rounds, then 10 minutes before the next 2 rounds... etc.
Powers
Silence – Pick a player and disable their power. You cannot choose the same player in consecutive rounds.
Fortune – Secretly discard a card in your hand. Whenever someone plays a card with that number, move forward or backwards one space.
Sign – You may pick a player, see their hand, and temporarily set the sign of one of their cards to be positive or negative for this round only.
Shift – You may shift everyone, including yourself, either one space forward or one space backwards.
Assist – You may choose to play one of your own +-1 or +-2 cards on another player.
Sequence – If 1-2-3-4 cards are played in succession, move forward or backwards 5 spaces.
Magnet – You may pick a player move them to the space adjacent to you. If they were in front of you they go to the space immediately in front of you; if they were behind you they go to the space immediately behind you.
Moonshot– You may secretly pick an number. If the sum of all cards played adds up to that amount of number at the end of the next round (not this one), the player who holds this power automatically wins, and the elimination candidate is the player closest to the starting line. If you are silenced, you may still make a guess for next round but you will not win if your previous guess was correct.
Switch – You may permanently swap this power with any other player’s power. Your powers and turn orders are swapped, but not your cards, nor your piece's positions.
