Your First Death Match is Cheese Hole.

In this game, both players will place tetromino pieces in attempt to create the most amount of unplayable space.

Each player starts with 7 different tetrominoes.

Once a player places a Tetromino, they may not play that same tetromino until they play all of their remaining ones.

When placing a tetromino, it must be "hard dropped" to the bottom of the board.

That is, it must fall from the top of the board until it is interrupted by the floor or an already placed piece, where it will then stop.

Tetrominoes may be rotated before they are placed.

Pieces may not be reflected.

To earn points, you must create "holes" on the board with the pieces.

A "hole" is an empty section of the grid surrounded orthogonally by dropped pieces or the border of the board.

If a player creates a hole by placing a piece, they will earn points equal to the hole's size.

A hole's size is determined by the number of empty squares the hole is made up of.

If multiple holes are created in the same turn, that player will earn points for all holes they created on that turn.

However, there are two ways to lose points in the game: Creating a full line and topping out.

A full line is a row that has no empty squares.

If a player places a piece so it creates a full line, they will lose 2 points per full line created on that turn.

In addition, the full line is removed from the board and every square above it will be shifted down by 1 row.

To top out the board, a player must place a piece that overlaps with the pink boundary at the ceiling (Row Q).

If a player does this on their turn, they will lose 4 points and the round immediately ends.

After two rounds where both players have the chance to go first, the game ends.

The player that has accumulated the most total points between the two rounds will win the Death Match, and stays alive in the game.

The player with the lower total score will be eliminated from SMG: How to Adapt
