In this Death Match, create difficult questions for your opponent to answer while swiftly answering your opponent's questions.
Designer(s): Zero | Match Type: DM (for 2 players) |
Featured in: Zero's Gauntlet |
In this game, players must attempt to form a question that is difficult for your opponent to answer, based on a snapshot image.
In each round, an image will be presented.
Players will have 150 seconds (2.5 mins) to form a question based on the image.
Afterwards, each question players made are revealed with a 321 countdown.
The first person to correctly answer the opponents question wins the round and earns a point.
There is a 2-minute time limit for the first answer.
After that, players will alternate answering with 1-minute time limits.
If the initial 2-minute time limit expires, we move onto the next round.
If a 1-minute time limit expires, we move to the other player.
If after both players have made 3 attempts and nobody has got it right, we move onto the next round.
The player with the most points after 20 rounds, wins.
If this is a tie, the player who made less incorrect guesses wins.
If this is a tie, the DMO wins.
There are strict rules a question must follow to be valid. If you fail to come up with a valid question in the time limit, you will forfeit the round and the point. I will not confirm whether your question is valid until after your question creation time. I will also not answer any questions you have during this period of time, but can in between rounds.
Rules for questions writing:
The question must be a single sentence.
The question must be written in readable English
The question cannot contain more than 25 words.
The question cannot repeat the same word more than twice.
The question cannot use double negatives.
The question cannot require the use of external tools such as image editors, calculators or Google. You may not use these tools during the DeathMatch.
The question cannot require "trivia" knowledge.
The question cannot reference previous snapshot images or questions.
The question cannot use private information only known to 1 player.
The question must be impossible to answer without seeing the snapshot image. (beyond simply guessing)
The question must have exactly 1 correct answer. This must be submitted with the question.
The answer to the question cannot be ambiguous.
The question must have an answer that is either a single word or a number.
The question may not use mathematical concepts more complicated than basic geometry and BIDMAS and primes.
If the answer is a number, it must be an integer between -1000 and 1000.
Calculations used for answering questions must remain whole numbers, (no decimals or fractions)
Letters and Numbers are thought to be single point lines, in other words they aren't shapes. It would be invalid to ask corners on the letter T, but ok to ask intersections.
In other words, the question should be about the image and not general knowledge. If you think you have an exploit to make an impossible valid question, it’s probably not allowed. Please clarify your ideas with the host beforehand so I don’t have to reject it after your question creation time and forfeit you the round. The font used in the example will be the same font for the entire DeathMatch.
Example snapshot:
Font is: Bahnschrift Light
The Blue Border surrounds the snapshot, but isn't part of it and will be the same for all rounds.
You may not take in notes into the DeathMatch (as this is can be considered tools). You may make notes during the DeathMatch though in a pen and paper fashion.
Valid Questions:
How many red letters are in the first half of the alphabet?
How many vertices are there on the red shapes that have have rotation symmetry greater than 1?
What is the total number of non black numbers minus the total number of black letters?
Invalid Questions:
How many letters aren't not red?
Which colour in the image isn't one of the colours I had as an assigned house in MainMatch 3?
What is the sum of all the numbers in the image in binary?
Which colour is most prevalent in the image?
What's my favourite colour in the image?
Summary of a Round
Snapshot image is revealed, players have 150 seconds to submit a question and its answer privately.
After this time is up, I review the questions. If at least one is invalid, the questions won't be asked and instead the reason will be told to the offending player(s) and a point awarded to the other player(s).
If both are valid, I will post them in the game room with a 321. Chargestone's Question to Tiac will be on the top, Tiac's Question to Chargestone will be on the bottom.
A 2 minute time limit starts. If nobody answers in this time limit, the round ends and nobody scores.
If somebody answers and is correct, the round ends with them scoring a point.
If they answer and are incorrect, the other player is given 1 min to answer. If they answer incorrectly or fail to answer in this time, it passes to the other player.
After each player has had 3 of these 1 min periods with no correct answer, the round ends with nobody scoring.
