Death Match 11: Tiger Ascent

The Tiger has given you one last chance to prove you are worthy to be in the finals. You are given a test of strength and courage - To ascend a mountain.

⛰️ Gameplay

Players each have 2 dice numbered 1-6 on each side, and 1 coin numbered 0 on one side and 7 on the other. The game will also be played on the following board.

Players will take turns ascending the mountain. The Death Match Opponent will choose the starting player. When it is your turn, you are the ascending player and will be given three ascent markers. On each turn, both players simultaneously choose the value of their two dice. After which, the dice will be revealed. The ascending player will then split the 4 dice into 2 pairs, but each dice in a pair must be from a different player.

Once the pairs are selected, the ascending player will ascend on columns they have ascent markers on that share the same number as the sums of the selected dice pairs. If a column doesn't have an ascent marker yet, one will be placed on the column 1 space above the ascending player's token on that column as long as you have spare ascent markers that are not on the board. If there is already an ascent marker on that column, the ascent marker will move up 1 space.

The process of choosing dice values, pairing dice, and moving ascent markers will repeat until the ascending player either chooses to save their progress or when the ascending player fails to place or move an ascent marker, in which case they fall and lose all the progress made with their ascent markers. When the ascending player chooses to save their progress they move their token(s) to the ascent marker's locations. In either case, the turn ends and the other player becomes the ascending player.

Once per turn, regardless of whether you are the ascending player or not, you may use your coin and choose its value (0 or 7) instead of your dice. Doing so will count as you submitting two 0s or two 7s, depending on what was submitted. The ascending player will still pair up the 4 numbers and take their sums like normal.

When a player reaches the top of a column (the space with the number on it), that column will be inaccessible to both players and an ascent marker cannot be placed or move up on that column. The ascending player must still save their progress in order to score for that column.

👑 Winning

When a player scores for 3 columns, the Death Match ends in their victory. Alternatively, when a player falls 10 times, the Death Match ends in their defeat.

The winner of Tiger Ascent advances to the finals and earn 2 garnets for their victory.

The loser of Tiger Ascent becomes the eleventh eliminated player from The Genius: Cosmic Banquet.

⏰ Timing

Players will have 1 minute to submit dice values. Players will also have 5 minutes of reserve time, used in 10 second increments. If you run out of time, you automatically lose Tiger Ascent.
