Escalate

In this Main Match, stay on your escalator for as long as possible while using commands to drop others off their escalators.

Designer(s): Zero Match Type: MM (for 6 players)
Featured in: Zero's Gauntlet

In this game players must attempt to stay on their Escalator Platforms for as long as possible. The first player to fall off their escalator loses the MainMatch.

-

Each player starts at the top of their own separate Escalators Platform.

There are 20 levels for each of the 6 Escalator tracks.

These levels have locks at every interval of 5: (5,10,15,20) once you fall below a lock, you cannot go to a higher level.

The phases for each round are as follows:

• Command Fetch: Players select a command and a target.

• Command Decode: Select which command to activate (if multiple), or any additional affects.

• Command Execute: The effects of activated commands resolve.

Rounds will overlap in the following fashion:

Command Fetch

Each round, players can select a command and another player to use it on.

You cannot use a command on yourself. You cannot target fallen players with commands, All commands assigned to fallen players do not resolve.

There are 3 different colours of commands and 12 of each colour for a total of 36 commands.

Each command has 2 programs, one that affects the target and one that affects the user.

If the command is activated, both of these affects run.

If less than 3 people select the same command, each of them still use the command.

If 3 or more than 3 people select the same command, the command is disabled and can no longer be used.

Once a command has been used in a round, it is disabled and can no longer be used.

Throughout the main match, you can only use 3 commands on the same player, and the commands used must be different colours each time.

Every 4 rounds you must use each colour command at least once (if possible). eg 1234 then 5678

Once all commands are disabled, the game will auto resolve with everyone descending 1 level at a time.

If a player fails to submit, or makes an invalid submission, they will Drop 2 Levels

Command Decode

It will be publicly revealed how many commands each player was given, and their colours.

Commands used will also be revealed, but not who used them or who they were used on.

Players will be told privately all commands they have been given.

If a player receives exactly 1 command, that command will always be Executed.

If a player receives more than 1 command, they may choose which of these commands is activated, the remaining commands are disabled and can no longer be used.

If a player fails to submit, all commands on them activate.

Players will not be told who gave them a command, unless 2 people give the same command, in which case the names will be revealed.

Command Execute

During each Execute phase, all activated commands resolve. All commands resolve simultaneously.

If these commands reference position, it is as of the start of the Phase.

Afterwards, every player moves down a certain number of levels according to the following:

Players who had their card activate, or were the target of another players activated card, drop 1 Level.

All other players drop 2 levels.

If at least 1 person has fallen off the escalator, both these numbers are increased by 1.

At the end of each Execute phase, all players who are ranked third receive 1 point.

Total points are not revealed publicly.

There may not always be a player ranked third. E.g 20,19,19,18 have the ranks 1st, 2nd,2nd,4th.

Results

The game ends once at most one person remains on their escalator platform.

If 1 player remains, they earn a ToL.

If nobody remains on their escalator platform, nobody gains this ToL.

The player(s) who fell off their Escalator platform first is the loser(s) of the MainMatch.

If more than one person fell off at once, the player with less points is the Elimination Candidate.

Afterwards the player with the most points excluding the following players earns a ToL:

• The first player(s) to fall (MainMatch Losers)

• The single player who didn’t fall. (in the case where 1 player remains)

• All players who were last to fall. (in the case where no player remained)

If this is a tie, nobody earns this ToL

The players will earn garnets based on how they ranked for points and position.

Players are ranked 1st to 6th for each, then receive garnets accordingly.

First gets 5 garnets, second gets 4, third gets 3, fourth 2, fifth 1, last none.

i.e. If a player finished third and had the second least points, they would earn 3+1 garnets.

The commands will be revealed in 24 hours time, here is an example:
