Designer(s): Zero Match Type: DM (for 2 players)
Featured in: The Genius: Tempo Up

This game is made up of 3 parts. The aim is to end up with the most points at the end of part 3.

Each player has 10 tiles.

The front of these tiles contains a letter from A to J.

The back of the tiles will contains the numbers 0 to 9, randomly distributed.

Tiles that have an odd number are coloured white.

Tiles that have an even numbers are coloured black.

A tiles' colour is updated whenever its number changes.

Part 1: Distribution

In this part, player may increase the numbers on their tiles by 1 ,10 times.

A tile can be increased multiple times, but not more than 3 times for a single tile.

At the end of the distribution you must have at least 4 tiles of each colour.

Players will have 5 minutes to submit their additions at the start of the DeathMatch.

Failure to make a valid submission will result in all remaining additions done randomly. The other player is notified in this case.

Part 2: Black and White

The players will play a game of Black and White using their 10 tiles.

The DMO will decide who goes first in round 1.

For every subsequent round, the player who won the previous round goes first.

Each player presents a tile in turn, showing its letter and colour.

In each round whoever has the higher number will win the round, who wins is announced.

The winner gains 1 round point, and the tile they won with increases in value by 1.

Tiles are discarded after they are used.

Whoever has more points after the 10 match ups wins a single Match Point (Different from round point)

If players have the same number of round points not Match Point is given out.

Players have 40secs for each submission.

Failure to submit in time results in automatically losing the current round, and a random tile is discarded.

Part 3: Grid War

Players get back all their tiles.

The players will take turns placing their tiles onto a 4x5 Grid

Not submitting in time in Part 3 results in a random tile in a random location

The starting player is decided by whoever earnt the Match Point in Part 2.

If neither players earnt the Match Point in Part 2, then the DMO decides.

Players will take turns placing a tile down, showing its letter and colour.

Players have 40secs for each submission.

Once all tiles are placed, we reveal their values, a sum the total for each player for each row and column.

The player with the higher total for each Row (4) and Column (5) earns a Match Point.

If there is a tie for total in a Row or Column, then no Match Point is given out for that line.

Up to 10 Match Points are given out across Part 2 and Part 3.

Whoever has more Match Points wins the DeathMatch.

If this is a tie, whoever won the Match Point in Part 2 wins the DeathMatch.

If neither player won the match point in part 2, then whichever player has a higher total from the centre 6 spaces of the grid wins the DeathMatch.

If this is a tie then the DMO wins the DeathMatch.
