There was a great war between the titans, led by Kronos, and the gods, led by Zeus. The gods, at that time the underdogs, managed to best the powerful titans, becoming the new rulers of the world. What will happen in this war, I wonder…

RULES

Basic Rules

There are 12 rooms in this game, some of which are in Heaven, and some of which are in Hell. Each room has a name which is a 4-letter English word. Each room also has its own scoring criterion, based on the submissions for that room. Some rooms are associated with each other, and therefore have the same ruleset for scoring. At the start of the Main Match, all players are told the name of a single room.

The Main Match lasts for 10 rounds, which are numbered Round 0 through 9. At the end of one of these rounds, a player can submit up to two times. A submission consists of a room name and an integer from 1 to 5 inclusive. You may submit to the same room multiple times, but you must submit different numbers within a round, even to different rooms.

You will visit any valid room you submitted for. If you visit an invalid room, then you will be told that it is invalid. For example, if you submitted to go to the room named FAKE, you would be informed (at the end of the round) that a room named FAKE does not exist.

All players who visited the same room are allowed free communications within each other. For example, if you submitted to go to the room named ROOM, then you would be able to discuss with any other player who visited it, in both public and private channels. Note that cross-realm alliance channels can only be used if ALL players in it are in the same room. When you visit a room, you will know which other players also visited it, the location of the room, and the exact ruleset of the room.

Communications are not opened for the submission at the end of Round 9, when the Main Match ends.

If you are the first player from your realm to visit a room, a 20 point discovery bonus will be split between all submissions from your realm in that room, rounded down. This overwrites any ruleset this room may have (so any submissions from your realm would be ignored, and any submissions from your realm would not gain any points from the room's ruleset).

Tokens

Some rooms have special criteria that, if satisfied, will give tokens to some number of players in that room. Tokens are not tradeable, and have two possible uses:

You may submit tokens to a room to learn the names of other rooms immediately upon submitting. The room must be one with special criteria; you cannot do this to other rooms. You can spend up to 2 tokens (throughout the entire game per room) to learn the names of rooms, one per token spent. The information you receive is purely based on which room you submit your tokens to, and if it is your first or second token you submitted to that room. You cannot submit tokens to a room you have not visited yet.

You may also spend tokens for additional submissions in a round. The cost of an additional submission starts out at 1 token for each player. Every time a player buys an additional submission, the cost for that player increases by 1 token. In addition, at the end of every round, the cost for each player decreases by 1 token, unless it is already at 1 token.

Results

After each submission, you will know which rooms you successfully visited, how many tokens you got, and how many points you got from each of your submissions. You also know which rooms you got the discovery bonus for.

At the end of all rounds, there are two metrics to consider. The first is realm score. For this, we consider all rooms in a single realm (Heaven or Hell) and for every room in that realm, we count the total number of points received, excluding discovery bonus points. Then, we add in all discovery points earned by that realm's players. This is that realm's score.

In addition, there is an individual score, which is the sum of points earned by a player in every room, including discovery bonus points.

The realm score of both realms and the individual score of every player are publicly revealed.

Now, we compare Heaven's realm score to Hell's. The result will determine how many players from Hell will ascend as a result of this Main Match.

  • If Heaven's realm score is greater than 1.25x of Hell's realm score, the Main Match ends in a Heaven win, and 0 Hell players ascend.
  • If Heaven's realm score is less than 0.8x of Hell's team score, the Main Match ends in a Hell win, and 2 Hell players ascend.
  • If neither of these occur, the Main Match ends in a tie, and 1 Hell player ascends.

Whatever the case, the top individual-scoring players from Hell ascend to Heaven, however many as is given. The top individual-scoring players from Heaven remain in Heaven; the number is equal to 3 minus the number of ascensions. All other players from Heaven fall to Hell.

The top scoring player in Hell will receive a Token of Life, regardless of whether they ascend or not. The lowest scoring Heaven player receives a Mark of Elimination for the next episode. The lowest scoring Hell player is the Elimination Candidate.

In case of a tie for first place, the player with more discovery points wins; if this is a tie, we go back in time until a player is not tied with the others; that player's relative placement is determined from that round, and this process is repeated until all ties are broken.

In the case of ties for last place, they are broken by the first place player from the realm.

At the start of the next Main Match, there will be 3 players in Heaven and 8 players in Hell.
