In this Main Match, pair up players wisely as the "X" so that you can maximize points from each ABC game.
Designer(s): MarcerMercer, XNimus | Match Type: MM (for 5 players) |
Featured in: Exordium |
In this game, players take turns becoming @XNimus and earn points through a game.
There are 5 rounds in this game.
Each round someone is the X. The order of the Xs is randomized. The X has the task of grouping the other 4 players into pairs. For example, if Anna is the X, she can group Bob with Carly and David with Emily, or she could group Bob with David and Carly with Emily, or any other permutation of those 4 players. The X will have 24 hours to determine these pairings; however, they may choose to lock in early.
Once the pairings are decided, they are publicly announced. Then, each paired player can decide to either Ally, Betray, or Censure their pair. Depending on what you and your pair play, you gain a different amount of points.
If you and your pair both Ally, you and your pair get 2 points, and the X gets 1 point.
If you and your pair both Betray, you and your pair get 0 points, and the X gets 2 points.
If you and your pair both Censure, you and your pair get -2 points, and the X gets 2 points.
If one player allies but the other betrays, the betrayer gets 3 points, the allier gets -2 points, and the X gets 0 points.
If one player allies but the other censures, the allier gets 2 points, the censurer gets -2 points, and the X gets -1 points.
If one player betrays but the other censures, the betrayer gets -2 points, the censurer gets 3 points, and the X gets -1 points.
A table version of this interaction is found below:
You may also spend 2 garnets to double your points payout (whether positive or negative) in a single round. This cost increases by 1 every time you use it (so the second time you use it, it’ll cost 3 garnets, and then 4, and then 5).
The results of the pairs and consequently everyone’s points totals are publicly announced at the end of each round.
After the conclusion of all 5 rounds, whoever has the most points will be given 2 Tokens of Life. If there is a tie for first, each player tied for first will get a Token of Life provided there are only 2 such tied players. Otherwise, all Tokens of Life are negated. The Elimination Candidate is the player with the least amount of points. Additionally, you get 1 garnet for every 5 points you score.
Clarification: If there is a tie for last place, the winner(s) of the Main Match will break the tie and determine the Elimination Candidate. If everyone is tied for last place, the lowest garnet count is the Elimination Candidate.
Clarification: The highest garnet count is not the winner if everyone ties. There are no winners, just a loser.
