Gravity Connect

In this Death Match, try to make a five-in-a-row using the power of gravity.

In this game, players compete to place tiles to be the first to connect five in a row diagonally or orthogonally.

The DMO, @Yum, chooses who goes first.

Each turn, the player whose turn it is chooses where to place their tile out of 36 options. You can choose to either slot your tile in from the left, right, top, or bottom — then, gravity will affect it and it will drop all the way until it hits something. Tiles will be placed from the first open spot and stop once it hits something. Check #dm6-examples for examples of how exactly placing works.

A player may not slot from the same side two turns in a row. For ease of use, each side is colored in a different way — top is green, left is orange, right is gray, bottom is purple. If it is easier to remember, think of it as a player may not slot from the same color two turns in a row.

The game continues until a player, on their turn, successfully connects 5 in a row, whether it be diagonal or orthogonal. If the entire board is filled and no player has made a successful 5 in a row, the player going second wins.

EXAMPLE

Suppose Marcer places on 12. Then, a tile is placed on the first available spot closest to 12 in that row (in this case, I3), and drops down all the way because of gravity and lands in A3.

Next, X decides to place on '3.' Since there is already something on A3, the tile is placed on B3, and then travels, affected by gravity, and lands on I3.

This turn, Marcer cannot use any of the gray numbers, because he cannot drop from the same side two turns in a row.

So instead, Marcer chooses 'A.' The tile starts on A1, but encounters a block on A3, so stops at A2, exactly like how one would imagine gravity would work.

This continues until one player is able to connect 5 tiles in a row. They are then the winner.
