This game is played on a 5x5 board.
Each player starts the game with 5 knight pieces on opposite sides of the board.
These starting locations are known as the home row.
In this game, players take simultaneous turns.
During a turn, players may perform exactly 2 of the following actions:
• Spawn a Knight on your home row on an empty square
• Move a Knight in an L pattern, to an empty space or space occupied by an opponents piece
• Name a Knight to claim a square it occupies in your colour
You may not perform the Move or Claim action with a Knight you have just spawned.
You may not select the same action twice.
You may not perform the same pair of actions more than 3 times in a row.
If the square has already been claimed, nothing happens from the claim action.
We resolve these actions in the following manner:
Perform all spawn actions.
Perform all move actions.
Perform all claim actions.
If a knight moves onto an enemy knight that doesn’t move, it captures it and removes it from the board.
If 2 knights move onto the same square, they are both removed from the board.
Whenever a knight is removed from the board, the player who doesn’t own it gains 1 point.
If a knight with the claim action wasn’t captured, it colours the square the owners colour.
The player who coloured it gains points based on the total coloured squares as of the last turn:
0 – 8 = Gain 1 Point 9 – 15 = Gain 2 Points 16 – 20 = Gain 3 Points 21 – 23 = Gain 4 Points 24 = Gain 5 Points
The game ends once all spaces are captured, or both players repeat the same moves (or equivalent) 3 turns in a row after 20 squares have been captured.
The player with the most points wins the DeathMatch.
If this is a tie, the DMO will be declared the winner.
There is a 90 second time limit for your moves. Failure to submit results in no move.
