Main Match 1: Primal Realms

Targets

Players have two allies and one enemy. Allies are mutual, but enemies are not. That is, your enemy will not have you as an enemy back, but your allies will.

Gameplay

There are three elements: Fire, Water, and Grass. Players have 24 hours to pick a starting element before the game begins. This will be private for the duration of the game.

When the game starts, there will be seven rounds (24 hours each). In each round:

  • Players will select one of three realms. Realms are accordingly labelled Fireplace, Waterfall, and Grasslands.
  • Players can change their element to a different element. Players may only do this twice during the MM, and this is calculated before scoring occurs.

Water beats Fire, Fire beats Grass, Grass beats Water.

At the end of each round, players will score points depending on the players that they share a room with.

For each player in the same realm as you:

  • If you have the same element, both of you get +2 points.
  • If you have different elements, the player with the winning element gains +4 points. The player with a losing element will get -4 points.

Players score bonus points if they are in the realm of their element.

  • Fire players in Fireplace score points equal to the number of players that have switched elements in the current round.
  • Water players in Waterfall score points equal to the largest number of players that have moved into a particular realm in the current round.
  • Grass players in Grasslands score points equal to the number of players in the least-occupied realm in the current round.

Players have open communications for the entirety of the MM, even across different realms.

Results

ToL Condition: You gain a ToL if you and at least one of your two allies has strictly more points than your enemy. If 8 or more players would gain ToLs, only 7 of those players (decided by points, then the tiebreaker minigame) will receive ToLs.

EC Condition: Have the least or second-least points. Ties are broken by your performance in the signups form minigame. Further ties are broken by RNG. There will be two ECs.

Information

At the end of each round:

  • Players will publicly learn who visited each zone.
  • Players will publicly learn the number of element switches in a given round.
  • Players will privately learn how many points they have and their own position on the points leaderboard (if players are tied, they will all learn the highest position they have tied for).

Example:

If the Fireplace has 1 Fire player, 2 Water players, and 3 Grass players, and no element switches happen, players would get the following scores at the end of the round.

The Fire player would get (4 + 4 + 4) - (4 + 4) = 4 points

The Water players would get (2) + (4) - (4 + 4 + 4) = -6 points

The Grass players would get (2 + 2) + (4 + 4) - (4) = 8 points

Clarification: The Waterfall bonus does not count players who have stayed in their current realm without moving (in Round 1, everyone “moves”).

Clarification: In Round 1, players do not “switch element” automatically (so this doesn’t fulfill Fire bonus).

Clarification: The Waterfall bonus is equivalent to "score points equal to the realm with most players, assuming we ignore everyone who didn't switch realms this round."

Clarification: Players with ToL are ineligible to be EC.
