Is Anybody in Here?

This round’s Main Match is called Is Anybody in Here?

ahem

THIS IS A GARNET MATCH. From now until the end of the MM, there is no garnet trading allowed. Players can not loan garnets (but can pay back outstanding ones). The player(s) with the highest garnet count at the end of the game will win, while the player(s) with the lowest amount of garnets will become the EC.

The objective is to earn garnets while avoiding being a room with poison to lose garnets. Every round, there will be 5 rooms, labelled as numbers 1-5. Every round, 2 of these rooms will contain garnets, while one room when stepped in will make you lose garnets. The other two rooms will be neutral, and neither gift or take away garnets. These will be referred to as the garnet rooms, the poison room, and the empty rooms. You will choose which room to move in to. Depending on the rooms, there are multiple outcomes:

  • The people in the garnet rooms will split the garnets as evenly as possible between them. If there are leftover garnet(s), those garnets will be discarded. The 2 rooms will have a different amount of garnets in each, one room will have more garnets than the other, except for the last round. These amounts will be posted at the end of the rules. If no one enters one of the garnet rooms in a round, those garnets will disappear.
  • Anyone in the poison room will lose 7 garnets, period. If anyone has less than 7 garnets, they will go in debt. If there are 2 people with a negative number of garnets, they will be both put into the DM, nullifying the need to choose a DM candidate.
  • There will also be 2 rooms with nothing at all. Of course, people who enter this room will … be impacted by nothing. They can converse, but nothing else will happen.

The contestants will all be notified at the end of each round the garnet changes of each player. Which player went where will not be announced, only the changes in garnet counts.

Which room is which will not be revealed to the contestants directly. It will be revealed to the contestants with hints given to them. Each contestant will be given 2 hints, and each hint will allow the reader to know whether rooms may contain garnets, make you lose garnets, or do nothing at all. Extra hints can be bought for at varying prices. Those prices are 3 garnets, 5 garnets, and 7 garnets.

There will be a 24 hour communication period (the pregame) where hints can be bought, and players can talk with one another. Then when the game starts, you will have 24 hours to choose which room you want to enter in for round 1. At the end of the 24 hour period, round 1 will end, and you will be sent into the rooms that you requested. Starting from that round, you will only be able to communicate with those who are in the same room as you. All other communication will be forbidden. As you go between rooms during rounds, you will only be able to communicate with the players that end up in the same room as you. The only exception will be 1 break after round 4 while choosing where to go for round 5. The 24 hours for round 5 will be a period where all players can talk to each other again.

As this is a garnet match, the person with the most garnets after 7 rounds will be the winner of this main match. They will receive a ToL for themself and one extra to be given to another player. If more than one person has the most amount of garnets, each individual will receive a ToL (with no extra ToL to give). The player with the lowest amount of garnets at the end of this match will become the DM candidate. They will choose someone who is not immune to be their opponent. If there are multiple players with the lowest amount of garnets, a sole winner will just choose an EC. If there are multiple winners, we will go to bidding on the losers to determine the EC (like last round).

The amount of garnets in the garnet rooms each round will be as follows:

R1: 7 garnets and 9 garnets

R2: 7 garnets and 10 garnets

R3: 8 garnets and 10 garnets

R4: 9 garnets and 11 garnets

R5: 9 garnets and 11 garnets

R6: 10 garnets and 12 garnets

R7: 13 garnets and 13 garnets

oh, and I also forgot. There are going to be a few *universal hints, just hints that will be public for all to see.

Those hints are here:

1. Each room will be the poison room at least once.

2. If you assume round 4 is the midpoint of the game, then each room will be a garnet room at least once before and after the midpoint.

3. For 4 out of the 5 rooms, there will be garnets in that room 3 times.

4. For 4 out of the 5 rooms, they will be empty 3 times.

Addendum: If you miss the submission deadline for going to a room, you will automatically be sent to the poison room, costing you garnets.
