The Death Match is called Pawns in Shining Armor.
This game will be played on a special 8x8 board, which consists of 4 different colours: red(R), yellow(Y), green(G), and blue(B). The 64 squares will be divided evenly between the 4 colors: 16 squares per color. The board will be RNG’ed so the colors on the board will never follow a pattern. The official board to be used will be revealed when the DM begins. The only rule that the tiles will follow is that no 3 tiles of the same color will touch each other. Here is an example board for reference (the coordinates of the board will be letters A-H on the bottom and numbers 1-8 along the side):

Once the board has been randomized, the Death Match opponent (or the player with more garnets) (<-this was the condition for when 2 players were joint losers) will choose which of the 4 sides of the board they wish to be their home row. The other player will then naturally receive the row opposite of the first player. These will be the players’ home rows. Each player will get 8 pawns that will be placed on the tiles in their home row. Now there are 2 win objectives to this game:
Successfully leaving the board means you must use another turn (doesn’t have to be your next turn) to move your pawn.
However, your pawns will not act like normal pawns in chess. Instead, the way your pawns move will be based on the tiles that each pawn are on. Pawns will move as follows:
Red - Pawns on a red tile will move like a rook in chess, horizontally or vertically in a straight line. The only restriction is that if there is another red tile in their path, that pawn can only go as far as that red tile for that turn (they can not move past another red tile).
Yellow - Pawns on a yellow tile will move like a bishop in chess, diagonally in any direction. However just like a pawn on a red tile, they can only move as far as another yellow tile (if there is one in the way).
Green - Pawns on a green tile will move like a knight in chess, 2 spaces in any compass direction, then move one more space in a perpendicular direction (a L-shape).
Blue - Pawns on a blue tile will move like a king does in chess, one space in any direction (compass and diagonal).
Which means, your pawn could be a rook on one turn, a bishop the next, and many other different possibilities!
The player who first completes one of the two above objectives will win and move on. The other player will be eliminated.
DMO also chooses who goes first
Time controls: players will have 90 seconds once a host posts a picture of the current board.
The winner of this DM will earn a prize of 9 garnets.
