Designer(s): Jiffa Match Type: MM (for 9 players)
Featured in: Genius Online: All Stars

You are all members of Emperor Skekso’s court, the emperor has just died and now there is a power vacuum that must be filled. Who will become the new emperor and who will left in the political wilderness?

Players bid garnets for one of the 9 nine roles, you list the roles in order you want them, and how many garnets your willing to pay for each role and you only pay if you win and for the role that you win. Each role is ranked according to 4 stats. Each Role is also part of a faction with 2 other roles, shown as the same colour on the chart.

Then each round a different stat is judge: it goes R1) Cultural, R2)Economic, R3) Military, R4)Political, R5)Cultural, R6)Economic, R7)Military, R8)Political.

Each round each player chooses whether to “Approve” or “Disapprove”. The number of players Approving is how many players will score a point for that round. Who scores is determined by rank. Only 1 approve and only the top ranked player scores a point.

At the end of each round it is revealed how many players voted approve or disapprove but not who.

At the end of the game we count up every players score. The player in first becomes the new Emperor.

The Bottom 2 players are vulnerable to being EC and the Emperor chooses between them (if more then 2 are tied for bottom, more are vulnerable).

The Emperor gets 2 ToL to hand out. At Least 1 must be handed out to another player in the same faction.

Players earn a garnet for every point. The Emperor earns a Gold Garnet.

Ties for Emperor:

If exactly 3 players tie for first they form a triumvirate all getting a tol and picking the EC together.

If all 3 players of a faction tie for first (and they are the only faction to do so) they form triumvirate and pick the EC together.

If 5 or more players tie for first and the triumvirate is not formed, the game is extended for another round (repeating the cycle so cultural next).

If 2 or 4 players tie for first and the triumvirate is not formed, firstly the tied players have 24 hours for all but one to resign and that player automatically becomes the Emperor. If there are more then 2 players who haven't we have another 24 hours this time where the "key roles" Treasurer, Scientist, Scroll Keeper vote for one of the tied players to be Emperor, the "key roles" cannot be voted for themselves, unless they are the only ones up in the tie. Note: if there are only 2 players tied for first and one resigns that player is automatically given a ToL.

Regardless of how the tie is broken their is all ways 3 tol given out by the hosts, and when there is an Emperor, atleast two must be in the hands of the Emperor's faction.

Role info: roles will be revealed at the end of the game but not during.

Note on key role ties: the 24 hours to resign is always available even if 1 player is mechanically guaranteed to win the vote.

Faction names:

The Diplomatic faction: The Chamberlain, Scroll Keeper and Ornamentalist.

The Religious Faction: The Ritual Master, Treasurer and Gormand.

The Military Faction: The General, Scientist and Slave Master.

just to be 100% clear if 2 players of the same faction are a 2 way tie, 1 drops out and is therefore auto given a tol, this is the same as being given a tol by the emperor. So since their same faction, the final tol, the one them emperor actually chooses can be any player regardless of faction
