Main Match 7: Rocky River Riding

Summary:

After a drafting phase, players will have cards that have two colored numbers on them. Then, on a map which contains portraits of the three players, players will play their cards to different branches of a river which dictate how many points that branch will be worth for the portrayed player. Finally, players will attempt to row the raft to control the path that the players travel down river. The player with the most points at the end will win!

Gameplay:

This game will take place over 3 phases. The first phase is the drafting phase, which will take 1 round. The second phase is the mapping phase, which will take 1 round. Finally, the last phase is the rafting phase, which will take 3 rounds. Thus, this game will be played over a span of 5 rounds.

Prior to the start of the game, players will be shown a river map with colored branches indicating which cards are eligible to be played in those slots. These cards are to be drafted in the first phase, and the drafting pool is also completely visible from the start.

During the drafting phase, players will create a numbered draft list made up of all 27 cards. Cards with a lower number will be your highest priority cards, while high numbered cards will be your lowest priority.

If there are conflicts between two or more players vying for the same card, the first conflict will be given in favor of the player with the highest number of garnets. The second conflict will be given in favor of the player with the second highest number, then the third conflict will be given in favor of the player with fewest garnets. This cycle then will reset if there are fourth or further conflicts.

During the mapping phase, you will decide where to place each of your cards. When you place a card, you must select one of the two colored numbers on the card and place that number on a branch whose color is matched. For example, if you have a card with yellow 5 and green 3, you may choose to place the yellow 5 on a branch with a yellow slot. You may not place the yellow 5 on a branch with a green slot, or any other color.

If two or more players attempt to place their card on the same slot, their cards will be summed.

The rafting phase will be split into 3 segments. You will notice this split on the map of the river. In all, there are 3 branches per segment, meaning that there will be 9 total branches visited by the end. Your submission during this segment will consist of three commands indicating the direction you would like the raft to travel.

For example, you might submit a list that states “left right left.” This indicates that you would like the raft to travel left at the first fork, right at the second fork, then left at the third fork.

Here are the possible outcomes based on the player’s submissions. If two players attempt to move in a direction and one player attempts to move in the opposite direction, then the raft will travel in the majority voted direction. If all three players attempt to move in a direction, the raft will travel over the fork to one branch further if there is one - otherwise, if there is not another branch in that direction then it will only move towards the first branch in that direction.

During each branch that is passed, the player who is portrayed there will obtain the amount of points associated with that branch. If there is a negative number associated, then that player will lose the associated number of points.

Result:

The player with the most points will obtain a Token of Life for themselves. If two players are tied for most points, then there will be no Token of Life.

The player with the fewest points will be Elimination Candidate. If this is a tie, then the player who had the least control of the raft will be the Elimination Candidate. Control of the raft is defined by counting the number of times that the raft went in the direction that this player voted for. If this is still a tie, then the Elimination Candidate will be the player with the fewest garnets.

Note: It will not be public which player receives each card from the draft

Note 2: It will be public which players row which directions during the rafting phase

Note 3: It will not be public which player assigns which card to each branch

Note 4: The path that the raft takes will be public, and thus the points earned at each branch will also be public
