DM3 - Three’s a Crowd

…but only if “a Crowd” means “at most 6”

(DM by Shaun)

-- Setup --

This game uses a special deck of cards. Each card will have 3 symbols on it.

Every combination of 3 symbols can appear on a card, but not all cards will be used in the game.

The game is divided into 2 rounds. Each round will last 20 minutes, during which a pyramid for that round is slowly revealed.

A pyramid consists of 21 cards, arranged in a triangle. At the start of the round, only the bottom 2 rows, containing 11 cards total, are revealed.

Cards in the pyramid will be labeled A-U, starting from bottom left.

-- Gameplay --

The goal of the game is to earn the most points by finding groups of 3 cards that share at most 6 symbols.

📝If you believe you have found 3 cards that only have 6 different symbols on them, name the 3 letters of the cards in the game room.

If you are correct, you will score 1 point.

If you are incorrect, or the group has already been named, you receive a small penalty of not being able to answer for 15 seconds.

After 4 minutes have passed, or all possible groups have been found, a new pyramid layer is revealed. This will give you more cards to search and find groups of 3.

After 4 more minutes pass, another pyramid layer is revealed, and so on until all 6 layers containing 21 cards are shown. After that, 4 more minutes are given for players to find the last few groups, after which the round ends.

Then, point totals are revealed and a new round begins.

-- Game End --

The game ends after 2 rounds pass. The player who scored more points total wins the DM.

In the case of a tie, the DMO wins.

-- Administration --

This game has no hidden information.

Please make your moves in #dm3-game-room

To submit, simply name the 3 cards that have at most 6 symbols in common.

A dealer will then reply, marking your guess as either correct or wrong.

If you are wrong, a dealer will give you a notice when your 15s timeout is over.

A 4 minute timer starts as soon as the image is posted.

A Dealer will warn the players when it’s 1 minute and when it’s 5 seconds till the next layer reveal.

Points will be totalled after the first pyramid and at the game end.

-- Example --

Here is an example round to help you understand the game and practice searching for groups.

Note that only the bottom 2 layers are revealed for this.

A dealer can confirm how many total groups there are for you
