MM4: Coin Collectors

(Main Match by e_is_cool)

-- Setup --

:hourglass: This MM is played over 5 rounds, each lasting 24 hours. There is a 24h pregame before the game begins.

All players start the game with 1 Bronze coin, 1 Silver coin and 1 Gold coin. Players will be able to gain more coins over the course of the game.

Naturally, gold coins are worth more than silver coins, which are worth more than bronze coins.

-- Auctions --

Each round, a number of auctions will be revealed. Generally, auctions will give the winner extra coins, but it’s also possible for auctions to reward garnets and a number of items that can be used in future rounds to gain an advantage.

Additionally, an Auction Limit and a Bid Limit are set for the round, which limit the number of auctions players can bid on and how many coins a player may bid on one auction respectively.

-- Bidding --

:pencil2: Players may bid any number of coins they have on any available auctions for the round.

You can bid different types of coins on a single auction, as long as the total amount of coins bid is less than or equal to the bid limit for that round.

Naturally, players may not bid more coins than they have of that type and may not bid fractional or negative coins.

Additionally, players may use any items they have received from the previous auctions. You may use multiple items in a turn.

:garnet: Lastly, players may use a garnet to ignore either the Auction Limit or the Bid Limit for the round. If you want to ignore both, you may spend 2 garnets.

:exclamation: This is how the rewards for each auction are decided. :exclamation:

First, only the gold coins are considered.

Everyone who bid any number of gold coins on the auction will receive a share of the auction, proportional to their bid.

Anything that is left over is not distributed.

Next, only the silver coins are considered.

In a similar way, everyone who bid silver coins will split the leftovers proportionally.

Last, only the bronze coins are considered.

Similarly, everyone who bid bronze coins will get the leftovers of the leftovers proportionally.

Everything that’s left after that is discarded, no player receives it.

:exclamation: However, only the highest coins bid on the auction are spent. Every coin of lower denomination will be returned to their bidders. :exclamation:

:mag: Here is an example auction to help in understanding.

Prize: 2 Gold Coins and 5 Silver Coins

Player A bids 1 Gold Coin and 2 Silver Coins

Player B bids 1 Gold Coin and 1 Silver Coin

Player C bids 1 Gold Coin and 1 Bronze Coin

First, gold coins are considered, as they are the highest denomination bid.

  • Each player bid 1 gold coin, so they receive ⅓ of the prize. 2 gold coins can’t be split evenly, so they carry over to the next step. Each player receives 1 silver coin and 2 silvers are carried over.

Next, silver coins are considered. 2 Gold Coins and 2 Silver Coins remain to be split.

  • Player A bid 2 silver coins and gets ⅔ of the remaining pool, and player B bid 1 silver coin and gets ⅓ of the remaining pool. Thus, player A receives 1 gold coin and 1 silver coin, and player B receives nothing.

Last, bronze coins are considered. 1 Gold Coin and 1 Silver Coin remains.

  • Player C is the only player that bid a bronze coin, and gets all of the remaining rewards.

  • Only the gold coin bids are spent, the silver and bronze coins used in the bid are refunded to the players.

*You may contact the dealers for less involved examples if the system is still confusing. We'll do our best to explain in different wording! :raised_hands: *

-- Game End --

The game ends after 5 rounds of auctions.

:ToL: The player with the most Gold Coins wins 1 ToL.

:ToL: The player with the most coins total wins 1 ToL.

In case of a tie, all tied players get 1 ToL each.

If there are 5 or more total awarded ToLs, all ToLs are nullified.

:EC: The player with the least coins total is EC.

In case of a tie, the player with the least gold coins is EC. In case of a further tie, ToL winners break the tie.
