Roulette Poker ♠️🔫

In Roulette Poker, players will put their luck, psychology, and wagering skills to the test. Each player will begin Roulette Poker with 40 chips, and play a number of rounds. Each round will have an ante, initial betting, final betting, and a showdown, provided that nobody folds. In the final showdown round, players will have the option to attempt to try and shoot the other player for large amounts of chips.

Note that this game will be run by using bot commands (the commands listed with ! marks). We will also play one practice game with 10 chips each before the match so that players can become accustomed to using the bot.

Game Phases

Ante

At the start of a round, the both players will ante 1 chip (put 1 chip into the pot). Every time the deck runs out of cards, the deck will be reshuffled and the ante will increase by 1 chip.

Players cannot decline to ante into the pot. If a player doesn't have enough chips to complete the ante, they will give the amount of chips that they have (and the other player will match that).

Initial Betting

Players will then both be dealt one "Bullet Card" from a deck of 24 cards. The 24-card deck contains 4 cards each of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. This "Bullet Card" will be loaded into your "gun", in the same number chamber as the card.

The players will then take turns betting, contributing money to the "pot."

The EC will bet first in Round 1. Afterwards, play will alternate every round.

A player can do one of the following on their turn

⬆️ Raise

!raise (number)

Place a higher amount of chips in front of them than their opponent.

🔁 Call

!call

Match the amount of chips that the opponent has in front of them.

❌ Fold

!fold

Forfeit the hand. The other player claims all the chips bet (and Bullet Cards are not shown)

Once both players have the same amount of chips in front of them (and have each taken at least one turn), the "final betting" phase begins.

Final Betting

Two community cards will be played face up in the center of the board. Betting proceeds just like in the first round (with the same starting player), except players no longer have the option to fold. Instead, they can...

💥 Fire

!fire (number)

Take your opponent's "gun" and fire a certain chamber at them. If you fire at them successfully (successfully guess the number of their Bullet Card), you take all the money in the pot (including raises) + you take 10 chips from your opponent. If you miss, then your opponent takes the pot. The Bullet Card of the person being fired at will always be revealed, but the Bullet Card of the person firing is not.

Showdown

If no one shoots, and the final round of betting is over, both players reveal their Bullet Cards. They combine their cards with the Community Cards to form one of the following hands, ranked in the order below (1 being the best, 4 being the worst).

1: Three of A Kind

Three cards of the same rank. 6️⃣ 6️⃣ 6️⃣

2: Straight

Three cards in sequence. 1️⃣ 2️⃣ 3️⃣

3: Pair

Two cards of the same rank. 5️⃣ 5️⃣ 1️⃣

4: High Card

None of the above. 5️⃣ 3️⃣ 2️⃣

The player with the higher-rank hand takes the pot.

If both players have the same rank hand, the player who wins is the one with the higher bullet card.

If both players have the exact same hand, the pot is split evenly.

Game Ending

The game ends when one player loses all their chips.

The surviving player advances to the final 6 of Genius One.

Clarification: Players can check, and chips lost from being “shot” go to the other player

Clarification: You can still shoot when all-in in the second round (will still gain 10 chips)

Clarification: When we run out of cards in one deck, we'll deal from a new deck (community cards will come from a fresh deck of 24 if we run out of cards after dealing the bullet cards)
