MM1 - Even Trade

In this game players aim to score as many points as possible by receiving an even number of pears in each round.

Be careful, as a single extra pear causes you to gain no points instead.

Perform well, as the results will carry into the next Main Match!

-- Setup --

All players have grown a very pretty little pear tree. But what to do with all these pears?

It’s odd how many pears are growing. Let’s pair them up, because as we know, pears come in pairs!

-- Player Submissions & Scoring --

Even Trade is played over the course of 3 rounds, each lasting 24 hours.

At the start of a new round, your tree grows 3 new pears for you to give away.

:pencil2: Each round, submit 3 different players to give a pear to. You can not submit yourself.

You receive points based on how many pears you have received this round.

If you receive 0 pears, you gain 2 points.
If you receive an even number of pears (other than 0), you gain 1 point.
If you receive an odd number of pears, you gain 0 points.

:garnet: You may spend a garnet to buy insurance for one round.

If you bought insurance and received an even number of pears (0 included), you automatically gain 2 more pears before scoring.
If you bought insurance and received an odd number of pears, you automatically gain 1 more pear before scoring.

At the end of each round, everyone’s point totals are revealed. However it is not revealed whether a player used insurance, how many pears a player received, or from whom.

At the end of the third round, the Main Match ends. Everyone’s final score and total amount of received pears are revealed.

Players are ranked from most points to least points. In case of a tie in points, the player who received more pears total is ranked higher.

For example, a player with 4 points and 5 pears total ranks higher than a player with 4 points and 4 pears total. A player with 5 points and 2 pears total ranks higher than both of them.

:ToL: The 4 highest ranked players receive a ToL each.

:EC: The lowest ranked player is EC.

:garnet: If a player receives more than 10 pears total, they receive a garnet at the end of the MM. Additionally, the highest ranked player receives a garnet.

:warning: Important to note, these rankings will decide your starting position in Main Match 2.

-- Edge Cases --

If both points and total pears tie, the player who had more pears after round 2 is ranked higher. In case of a further tie, repeat with round 1.
In case of a total tie, the tie is broken randomly. It is not announced whether the tiebreak was random or not.
