Here are some potential rules for a game called "Heart of the Cards" where players will simulate an over-the-top card duel in an attempt to impress the judges.

DM2C: Heart of the Cards

In this Death Match, players will take turns playing a card game. Nominally, both players start with 8000 Life Points and have a 40-card deck. Nominally, each player will start with a hand of 5 cards and draw 1 card at the start of each turn. Nominally, the aim of the game is to reduce your opponent's life total to 0 through the use of spells and creatures. However, none of this shit actually matters. The true aim of the game is to be as funny as possible.

The DMO will choose whether they have the first turn or the second turn. After this, turns alternate.

During your turn, you must use the cards you are provided in your hand. There are no restrictions. You can do whatever. You may choose to be inspired by the cards. You may choose to begin a Shadow Game. You may make up rules on the spot. However, whatever you choose to do, it must be funny. Bonus points if the humor is directly tied to the game and the material you were provided. Once your turn is done, you must declare that your turn is over.

The game ends once the game reaches an end state. The possible end states include a player reaching 0 Life Points, a player being unable to draw more cards, a player forfeiting, a player being trapped in the Shadow Realm, or the host deciding that the game is over. Generally, the host will only interfere and terminate the game if both players have played at least 10 turns.

⏰ Timing

Players may keep their turns as short as possible, but the hard upper limit is 5 minutes per turn. This is a hard upper limit and we'd prefer you keep it closer to 2-3 minutes most of the time. The host reserves the right to cut your turn short at any time if deemed necessary.

👑 Winning

Once the game ends, the person who was determined to have been funnier wins the Death Match.
