Deathmatch 8: Short Circuit

In Short Circuit, two players will compete to complete an electrical circuit first using 24 different pieces.

On a given turn, players may place one, two, or three tiles. At least one tile must touch the existing "track", and if there is more than one tile placed they must all be adjacent in a straight line. If on their turn a player completes the circuit (with all pieces on the board included) they win the game.

Alternately, if a player believes that it is no longer possible to complete the track using the remaining pieces, they may call "impossible." If the other player cannot complete the track within 5 minutes or concedes, then the player who called "impossible" wins the game. If the other player completes the track after an impossible call, then that player wins instead.

Tiles

There are four types of tiles that can be placed; all of them can be rotated before being set down.

  • Turn tiles
  • Straight tiles
  • Crossroad tiles
  • Thunder tiles

Thunder tiles are special tiles. While on the board, they represent any tile (straight tiles, turn tiles, crossroad tiles) that could make the track possible to complete.

By building around a Thunder Tile you can determine what kind of track it must be.

One practice game will be played live, then the deathmatch.

The exact number of each tile available and the dimensions of the board will be kept secret until the deathmatch.

You may practice with other players or guests. You may not practice with spectators. ❌

Make a copy of the board to practice with it.

Before the game starts, the player who has the most garnets will have 1 minute to choose who goes first.

Each player will have up to 5 minutes to take a turn (after which a 5 minute non-replenish-able timer will trigger).

clarification/correction: at least one tile you place must touch an existing tile. it doesn't actually have to connect
