Main Match 1: Pirates’ Proposal

Summary

Divided across two separate rooms, players must attempt to keep as much gold for themselves while avoiding rejection from the other players. This Main Match will last 10 days.

Gameplay

This Main Match consists of five rounds, which in turn consist of two Phases: the Distribution Phase and the Voting Phase. Each Phase will last 24 hours.

At the start of the game, each player will be given five packages: these contain 10 gold, 20 gold, 30 gold, 40 gold, and 50 gold, respectively. The players will distribute the contents of these packages in the Distribution Phase.

Players will also be randomly divided into two rooms of seven players each.

In the beginning of the Distribution Phase, each player will have one of their unopened packages randomly opened. Players will be told the contents of their opened package.

During the Distribution Phase, each player must then plan a distribution of all of the package’s contents among himself/herself and the other players in the room. Whether the plan goes into effect will be decided during the Voting Phase.

Example (the Package contains 30 gold, and there are seven players in the room):

Self: 7 gold

Player A: 3 gold

Player B: 7 gold

Player C: 2 gold

Player D: 3 gold

Player E: 4 gold

Player F: 4 gold

At the start of a round’s Voting Phase, each player will be informed what he/she would receive from each other player’s distributions. Players will not receive other information regarding the distributions of the other players.

Players will then vote either Yes or No on each of the plans of the other players. Players can vote on their own plan. Every round, the number of times you vote Yes and the number of times you vote No cannot differ by more than 1.

At the end of the Voting Phase, if a plan receives a greater number of Yes votes than No votes, the plan goes through, and all players gain their share according to the plan.

However, if a plan receives an equal number, or more No votes than Yes votes, the plan fails and the total gold distributed under the plan will be forcefully confiscated and split equally among all the players, except the player who proposed the plan. Any remainders from the division will be destroyed.

During each Voting Phase, players can also choose to move to the other room for the following Distribution Phase. Players may only do this two times in the Main Match.

Results

At the end of the Main Match, the amount of gold each player has is revealed. The three players with the most gold earn one Token of Life, and the player with the most gold earns an extra Token of Life to give away to another player.

The player with the least gold is EC.

Players earn 1 garnet for every multiple of 50 gold they have.

Round Information

At the start of each Distribution Phase, players will know which package was opened and how much gold was in it.

At the start of each Voting Phase, players will learn the amount of gold which they would receive under the plans of each other player.

At the end of each Voting Phase, players will learn which players’ plans have passed and which players’ plans have failed. They will also learn their gold count.

The specifics of the other players’ plans, the gold count of the other players, and the votes of the other players are not revealed.

Submissions

During the Distribution Phase, distribute the given amount of gold to yourself and the other players.

During the Voting Phase, vote Yes or No to the given plans. You must vote. Failure to vote will default you to a random assortment of votes that satisfies the condition that there must be no more than one type of vote than another. You may also choose to move to the other room, but you may do this action at most twice.

Garnet Usage

A garnet can be used to add an additional 5 gold to your distribution. Multiple garnets (if you have multiple) can be used in one round.

Example

Package: 30 gold

Self: 7 gold - YES

Player A: 3 gold - YES

Player B: 7 gold - NO

Player C: 2 gold - NO

Player D: 3 gold - YES

Player E: 4 gold - NO

Player F: 4 gold - NO

The plan fails. All players but the person who made the plan will divide 30 gold amongst themselves, which means each of them would get 5 gold.

If the plan had one more YES, the plan would succeed and everyone would get their stated gold.

Amendment: there can be at most six Tokens of Life given out.

If there is a tie, all players with the least amount of gold will be removed from the count until there are less than or equal to six Tokens of Life given out. That means if seven people tie for first, nobody gets one.

Clarification: players must vote on their own plan

And all other plans

For that matter

Amendment II: If you do not submit in the Proposal Phase, you will divide your money evenly among all the players, giving yourself the remainder. (This would be your plan. It can be down-voted like any other plan.) Players will not know if you have submitted or not. The division does not include yourself.
