MM9 - Now this is Pod Racing!

Overview

Welcome sports fans to the event of the year, 8 racers gave lined up at the starting line, 2 from each region of our glorious nation! They've fought long and hard to get here but this is it, the grand finals, winner takes it all, we seem to have an even spread of Burstships and Controlships, in fact each nation has 1 of each! Looks like the race is ready to start, I hope your ready sports fans cause this is shaping up to be an explosive event!!

Setup Phase

Players will give me 2 lists 1 for each of your racers giving:

-10 starting spots in order of priority

-a garnet spend per racer

You may also give a preferred color and i will do my best to give it to you

Priority for starting spots is given in order of:

-Garnets spent

-Percentage of garnet pool spent

-A players Burstships gets priority over their Controlships

-Random

Turn Submission

Each player draws 3 cards from each of their racers decks, if there is not 3 cards in the deck all cards are drawn, the discard is shuffled and cards are drawn till you have 3

The decks start out as follows:

Controlships - 3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5, 6, 6, 7, 7

Burstships - 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5, 6, 9, 9

The player chooses one from each set of cards to play, that card is removed from the game and the other 2 go to their respective discard piles

Racer Movement

Starting from the current leading player each racer will move forward the number of spaces on their card

-The maximum number of racers per space is 2, if your racer is supposed to land on that space they will land on the next available space behind them

-The racer who landed on the space first is considered ahead of the racer who landed second

Chasing

A pack is a group of racers with no space dividing them

After movement starting from the pack at the back if theres is a gap of exactly 1 space between them and the pack in front they all move 1 space forward and join that pack, this can be chained, the pack in front is blocking debris so its safer to go just a bit faster

Atmosphere

At the end of each turn when all racers have moved low energy cards are handed out to every racer in the lead space of a pack

Low energy cards are a value of 2 and placed in that racers discard pile, you've been hit with the brunt of the effects of the atmosphere draining your energy

Terrain

Certain areas have terrain with special effects, this terrain can effect how your cards function

-Asteroid Field - any card played in this region above 5 is reduced to 5, if you are to enter this region with your movement your card is reduced to 5 or the lowest number needed to enter the asteroid field, pack chasing is disabled in this area, its dangerous to go to hard here, you dont want to crash

-Flux Zone - any card below 4 played in the flux zone is increased to 4, pack chasing is disabled in this area, this area has given you that extra boost you need to succeed!

-Stands: in this area you see the fans cheering you on, the effects of chasing are doubled but leaders of chasing packs are given a low energy card, you can't disappoint the adoring fans in your spec chat can you

-Solar System: This is a populated area, to avoid inconveniencing the locals the lane is only 1 square wide

Endgame

The race ends the turn a racer crosses the finish line, the player whose racer is in the lead is the winner of the sole ToL and 5 garnets, the player with the lowest best placement is the EC

e.g

1st: A 2nd: B 3rd: B 4th: C 5th: D 6th: D 7th: A 8th: C

The winner would be A and the EC would be D
