MM10: Star-Spangled Ben-Hur?
You will play on this star-shaped board [shown in picture]. All of the players will have a champion on the grid as shown. You will be moving champions (represented by the circle things) to obtain the highest amount of points.
Each submission will be 24 hours and the deadline will be 6 PM UTC+9.
Pregame:
[Pregame Submission 1 (48 hours after rules release)] Choose a champion
You all must choose a champion from the board above (on the left side). Everyone first vote for someone to choose their champion/color last and submit a list in order of the champion you would like (all 5 via colors). Should there be a tie for who chooses champion last, there will be a revote that will also last 24 hours.
You will then be notified what champion/color you are in your submissions.
[Pregame Submission 2 (24 hours after Pregame Submission 1)] Make a prediction for 3rd
During the second pregame phase, you will also have the opportunity to predict the champion you think will get 3rd. Rank them as follows:
Prediction for 3rd place format (A-E being colors):
A
B
C
D
E
If A is right (gets 3rd), you get 2 points. If B or C is correct, you get 1 point, and if D or E is correct, you get nothing.
Initially, there will be 10 tokens supporting each champion. However, the champion each person predicted would get 3rd will have a token removed. This means one champion could have only 5 tokens at the start of the game. You may also spend 5 garnets to put in a token of the champion of your choice. You may only purchase this once.
If by chance you miss a submission at any point, you will receive a warning. Three warnings will lead in you going straight to EC. Warnings will be public.
If you miss the first pregame submission, you will be the last pick for champion. If more than one person does not submit, I will randomize the remaining champions. If you miss the tiebreaker, your vote will be randomized should there be no clear winner even then. If you miss the second submission, it will be taken that there are no bids.
Game:
After pregame, every 24 hours, you alternate between Token rounds and Movement rounds.
[Round Submission: Token] State which movement zone of 1,2,4 you want to place the tokens you have received.
Tokens will be drawn randomly without replacement from the pool of tokens. These tokens will be used for movement. At the beginning of each Round each player will be dealt 2 tokens privately in submissions. Players submit where they wish to place their tokens on either movement zone of 1, 2, or 4 in their submissions. The person who has the most unique number of tokens for a specific movement, that champion may move that many spots. If there is a tie, the next highest number of tokens for one moves, etc. Should you miss this submission, you will default put them all into Movement 1. The drawing order will be the same as the champion-picking order, so should the tokens run out, the tokens will be reset (the ones drawn). Tokens will be reset from the 1,2,4 board every round.
The total 1,2,4 token board will be revealed, and whoever gets to move will be revealed.
[Round Submission: Movement] Move your champions on the grid
Champions will start at the points of the star as shown above. The round following the token submission, the person whose champion received the most for a specific area must move along a triangle or pentagon using preexisting lines and the existing points. However, the first movement must go the direction the champion is facing (It faces towards the next point in the polygon you made for the movement). One unit of movement is moving along a side of a corner triangle or the center pentagon (that is, from one vertex to another along an existing line). Movement is processed in the order of 1, 2, and 4.
This is an example movement for if the shrugging champion moves. First, the triangle/pentagon for movement is chosen (by the player). Should it move 1 along this triangle, it would land where it is marked 1, etc. The notation for this move could be “Move 1: Triangle AFJ” (notation picture provided above). As such, the moved champion would face towards the direction of (2) at the end of this turn. You may change the triangle/pentagon you move on every time you move.
If you are ever confused about whether a movement is valid, I heavily suggest you ask me beforehand. If a move is invalid at deadline, it will not be considered.
Should a champion land on another champion, the champion that was landed on is killed and removed from the game. (die first = 5th, die second = 4th, etc.) You get 1 point per champion you kill. However, people who have dead champions still participate in the Token phase and can talk with the other people. This proceeds until there is 1 champion left. If there are 3 rounds with no death with two champions remaining, both champions will be deemed 2nd.
Players with dead champions will gain access to the exclusive #mm10-lol-ur-dead channel the round they die.
If you miss a submission for movement or submit an invalid movement, the default will be moving along the center pentagon if you are on a vertex of the center pentagon and a corner triangle if you are on a point of the star.
The board state will be revealed every round.
[End of Game]
If your champion gets 3rd, you will get 3 points and if you bid on this champion, players receive their payouts from prediction bids. Whoever's champion gets 1st or 5th gets 1 point.
The winner of the game will be whoever has the most amount of points and will receive a sole Token of Life. The loser will be the one with the least amount of points and will be EC. Should there be a tie for the winner, the tiebreak order will be the champion that got eliminated the earliest. Should there be a tie for the loser, if there are two, they will both go to the death match. Otherwise, the tiebreak will be whoever's champion got eliminated the latest. They will then choose their DMO.
People who received the most points will receive 2 garnets. The people who received the second-most points will receive 1 garnet. The person whose champion got 3rd will receive 4 garnets.
Addendum: The tokens of a player with an eliminated champion will not be taken into account in future Token rounds.
Incompetent host moment: The choosing champion thing was supposed to be similar to Middle Race, so list all other four players as well for the person you would choose to pick one earlier than you. If this is sudden, I can extend this submission.
Addendum: (stated in #mm10-announcements)
The rounds will go as follows:
Round 1 (this submission)
First Token splits
Round 2 (next submission)
Movement from first split
Second token split
Round 3 (the following submission)
Movement from second split
Third token split
Etc
Walking around, you can’t help but notice how calm everything has been for the past few months… almost too calm. Suddenly, for reasons convenient to the plot, everything goes wrong. Vegetation combusts, gargantuan waves crash against the shore, the once solid ground beneath you begins to shake, gusts of wind further threaten to knock you off your feet, and, somehow… the sky is falling? We’ve gotta sort this out.
In this game, players will be picking elements, placing bets, and navigating a star-shaped board in order to score as many points as possible.
The first two days of the match will be dedicated to pregame prep; element selection and predictions respectively. When the game begins, each day (except the first) will have two phases, Movement and Tokens.
In the Movement phase, the tokens placed in the previous phase will be revealed and players will move their assigned element accordingly. This means that on the first day of the game, there will not be a Movement phase, as no tokens have been placed. On every day afterwards, players will submit for both Movement and Tokens.
In the Tokens phase, players will place tokens for the next Movement phase.
There will be two 24-hour pregame periods. The first period is for element selection, and the second will be for predictions.
In the element selection period, players will create two priority lists:
The player with the highest average ranking among all priority lists will receive the highest element on their list. Then, the player with the second highest ranking will receive the highest available element on their list, and so on. In case of a tie in player rankings, the tie will be broken in favor of the player with more garnets at the start of this episode (Jamie > Raio > Ian > Usernam3 > Action). Players will be told privately which element they receive. It will not be publicly revealed which player received which element.
In the prediction period, players will make predictions as to which element will place 3rd in the game. Each player has one primary prediction and two secondary predictions, and you cannot have multiple predictions on the same element. At the end of the game, if your primary prediction placed 3rd, you will score 3 points. If one of your secondary predictions placed 3rd, you will score 1 point.
At the start of the game, there will be a pool of 50 tokens, 10 for each element. For every player who selected an element for their primary prediction, one of that element’s tokens will be removed from the pool. This means that one element could have as few as 5 tokens in the pool.
Every day, each player will draw 2 tokens without replacement from the pool. Tokens will be drawn in the same order that was used to assign players their elements. If a player needs to draw tokens and the pool is empty, all previously played tokens will be returned to the pool, and the drawing will continue.
Players must place their tokens into the 1, 2, or 4 zone of the token board. Players may place their tokens into the same zone or into different zones, but both tokens must be placed.
The element with the highest unique number of tokens (including 0) in a zone will move that many spaces in the next Movement phase. It is possible for an element to move multiple times in a Movement phase. It is also possible for no element to have a unique number of tokens in a zone, resulting in no element moving that many spaces.
For example, in the above image, Fire (Red) would move 1 space, Earth (Green) would move 2 spaces, and no element would move 4 spaces.
Elements start the game facing a certain direction at the points of the star as shown above. In each Movement phase, the token board from the previous day will be revealed, and elements will move according to the results.
When moving an element, the player assigned to that specific element selects a triangle or pentagon that can be made using the points and lines present on the board for it to move along. The element’s first move must be in the direction that it is currently facing. After moving, the element will face in the direction of the next point in the polygon used for movement.
For example, if Earth were to move 4 spaces from its starting position, and the player controlling earth selected triangle AFJ, Earth would pass by spaces G, D, and A before landing on space C (facing space F, the next space on the triangle).
Movement is processed in the order of 1 space, then 2 spaces, then 4 spaces.
If, when an element finishes moving, it is on the same space as another element, it removes that element from the game, and the player who made the move scores 1 point. The first element to be removed will be awarded 5th place, the next to be removed gets 4th, and so on. When removed, elements do not move if they were supposed to later in the phase, their tokens are removed from the pool, and ignored in the upcoming Token phase.
Players with eliminated elements will still participate in Token phases.
If, after a Movement phase, both of the following conditions are met:
The game will end early, and both remaining elements will be awarded 2nd place. Otherwise, the game ends when only 1 element remains on the board.
If your element gets 3rd place, score 3 points.
If your element gets 1st or 5th place, score 1 point.
The player who scored the most points will win the match and receive 1 Token of Life.
If there is a tie for first, whoever’s element was eliminated earliest will win. If still tied, both players will win.
The player who scored the fewest points will lose the match and become the Elimination Candidate.
If there is a tie for last, whoever’s element was eliminated last will lose. If still tied, both players will be sent to the death match.
The player whose element got 3rd place will gain 3 garnets.
Players who scored the most points will gain 2 garnets.
Players who scored the second most points will gain 1 garnet.
Addendum: Players may spend 5 garnets during the prediction period of pregame to add an extra token of their choice to the pool. Each player may only purchase this once.
Addendum: If a player does not place their tokens, they will be placed randomly. If a player does not select a valid triangle or pentagon for their piece's movement, they will default to moving around the center pentagon if able, otherwise they will move around a corner triangle.
Drafting (The game involves players drafting items from a pool, usually by taking turns or using a priority system.)
Piece movement (The game involves pieces moving on a board.)
Piece removal (The game involves pieces being removed from the board.)
Points-based (The game involves players earning points.)
Trick (The game involves a hidden trick of some sort that, if discovered by a player, gives them an advantage.)
