DM3B: CHESSBOXING
In this brains and brawn Death Match, players will engage in alternating bouts of chess and boxing until only one person stands.
The DM will have alternating rounds of chess and boxing, starting with chess. The DM will continue until a player loses in either of the games. Each round will take 3 minutes in real-time.
In chess, players will play the classic game of chess. The DMO, @Jiffa, may choose if he wants black or white. Otherwise, it is chess: you tell me your moves, and I will play your moves (if legal). The time control will be 10+0; this will be carried over for the entirety of the DM.
Once 3 minutes of chess are played, the chess game is immediately suspended, and the DM participants play boxing instead. In boxing, each player has 8 HP and 6 Guard. A single mini-round of boxing is 30 seconds: during these 30 seconds, players must submit privately one of the following actions to do:
Punch Left: You will punch left. If the punch successfully lands, your opponent loses 1 HP.
Punch Right: You will punch right. If the punch successfully lands, your opponent loses 1 HP.
Dodge Left: You will dodge a left-side attack. If you dodge successfully, nothing happens.
Dodge Right: You will dodge a right-side attack. If you dodge successfully, nothing happens.
Guard Left: You will guard your left-side. If you guard successfully, your opponent loses 2 HP. You lose 1 Guard.
Guard Right: You will guard your right-side. If you guard successfully, your opponent loses 2 HP. You lose 1 Guard.
If you lose all your HP, you will be considered knocked-out, but your boxing match isn't over. You must roll a d8: if you roll higher than your Guard, you fail to recover and lose the DM. If you roll lower than or equal to your Guard, however, you stand back up, and re-gain a certain amount of HP. This amount of HP is 8 / (# of times you've been knocked out + 1), rounded down, but never to less than 1. So, if you've been knocked down 5 times, your returning HP is 8 / (5+1) rounded down, which is 1.
After 6 mini-rounds of boxing occur, the boxing match will be suspended, and players will switch back to playing chess.
RESULTS
You win Chessboxing if you manage to win chess OR boxing. The game will immediately end if a player is able to win in one of the two games.
Winning chess follows all standard chess rules (win by timeout with sufficient material, win by checkmate, win by forfeit). Winning boxing means you've knocked down your opponent and they fail to recover.
If the chess match results in stalemate, then the chess match will end, and the rest of the game will be a continuous bout of boxing. Whoever wins boxing will then win the DM.
TIMING
You will be on the clock when playing chess. You will have 10 minutes total, with no increment and no reserve time.
You will have 30 seconds per mini-round of boxing. If you fail to submit during the 30 seconds, you will lose 1 HP for idling.
Every 3 minutes globally, I will announce that 3 minutes have passed, and the game the players are playing will switch.
Clarification: You are not allowed to use external tools, such as programs, spreadsheet formulas, or engines.
Clarification: When telling me what move to do, please use standard chess notation if possible.
Clarification: You lose Guard regardless of if you guard successfully or not.
Clarification: If the players gentleman to a different time control, I'm fine with that, as long as it isn't like 60+10.
