MM5: Domino Auction (6 Players)
The game will take place on an individual 12x12 Square grid. The game will take place for 3 rounds and and 1 final round where players can place their final dominoes.
Each round, 20 domino tiles will be brought up for auction. Players will have a total of 300 bidding chips that will persist the entire game. All tiles for auctions will be shown in advance. Each player will write how many chips they wish to spend on each pattern for each shape, and also place their tiles from last round on the board.
When bidding, as long as you have the sufficient bidding chips there is no limit to how much you can bid on each shape. For every tile, the highest bidder will take the tile, with the next highest winning on ties. All chips used will be spent, regardless of whether you won the tile or not. After everyone bids, only who won which tile and the total amount of chips spent that round will be revealed.
Players must also place all of their dominoes 1 round after they win them. The only restriction to placing is that it cannot overlap your own tiles, and it must be orthogonally connected to one of your tiles after the first one is placed. After every round, everyone's board will be revealed. Players can buy a 1x1 square for 2 garnets, up to three times in the entire game.
Players attempt to make the perfect square possible. The player with the biggest square pattern will win the main match and win 2 TOLs, and the player with the smallest square will become EC. The ECs are tiebroken by remaining chips. If the chips are tied, the player with the smaller amount of squares that are NOT in the square pattern will win.
Players will earn garnets equal to 2x the side length of their biggest square.
CLARIFICATION: The EC tiebreaker (chips -> remaining tiles outside biggest square) also applies to winners.
CLARIFICATION: You cannot give chips to other players.
