๐Ÿ“Œ Summary

In Finding Treasure Island, players navigate around the ocean while playing hands of Quattro. Visting each island grants you a unique effect, with visiting Treasure Island allowing you to win the FM.

๐Ÿ“– Rules

Both players start with 30 doubloons each. This game also uses the 41-card Quattro deck also found in MM5: Picking Nine Possibilities. As a refresher, this deck contains 1-10 in four colors: red, green, blue, and yellow, with a gray 0 that acts as a wildcard.

At the start of the game, the player with the Plan of Attack item will first choose which of the four starting islands they wish to start in. Then, the player without the Plan of Attack item will choose which of the three remaining starting islands they wish to start in.

The game will then proceed in rounds.

๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ Map

The ocean is vast with many islands. Reflecting this, the map of Finding Treasure Island will be quite large, with the 4 starting islands in each corner, and Treasure Island dead in the center. Each island on the map has a unique ability that may affect cards, betting, movement, and more.

The exact map and islands will be released 24 hours after rules release, at .

โ›ต Round Overview

At the start of each round, both players ante a single doubloon. Then, both players are dealt 5 cards. This serves as their hand.

Players will then choose two things:

  1. they will choose a card to reveal,
  2. and they will choose to move to another island from their current island.

These will be submitted privately and simultaneously as your opponent.

After both players have submitted, their movements and revealed cards are publicly announced. Any island effects will then be resolved as appropriate. The player who doesn't bet first resolves their island first.

Then, betting begins. The player to bet first will be randomly chosen at the start of round 1, and alternate for every proceeding round. The players will bet using standard poker rules โ€” they may check (stay at their current bet), raise (add to their bet), or fold (concede the round). Just like in poker, raises must be at least equal to the previous bet/raise. If a previous player raised, you can no longer check but may instead call (add to your bet the opponent's raise).

Betting and raising continues until a player calls or a player folds, or both players go all-in.

If either player folds, the round ends. The player who didn't fold collects the entire pot, and the next round immediately begins.

If neither player folds (including if both players go all-in), the round continues. Players will then repeat choosing a card to reveal & choosing an island to move to, and then after effects resolve, betting. This process repeats 3 times in a round. These will each be called the flop, the turn, and the river, respectively. A single choosing/betting repetition will be called a bout. That is, the flop is a bout, the turn is a bout, and the river is a bout, and each round is comprised of 3 bouts (notwithstanding folds).

The winner of a round is the player with the higher Quattro (four different numbers and colors) or the player who has a Quattro if one player doesn't.

๐Ÿ‘‘ Winning

There are three ways to win Finding Treasure Island.

  1. You win if you visit Treasure Island during a round and win that round while having at least 2/3 of the total doubloons in your possession. If you visit Treasure Island during a round and fail to win that round, you instead have 10 of your doubloons confiscated.
  2. You also win if you have 100% of the total doubloons in your possession.
  3. You also win if you have more than 50% of the total doubloons in your possession after round 50.

๐Ÿ•‘ Timing

Players have 90 seconds to choose a card to reveal and an island to move to. If a player runs out of time, the revealed card will be randomized and their opponent will choose which island to move to for them.

Players have 60 seconds to resolve an island's effect. If a player runs out of time, it will be randomized.

Players have 90 seconds to either check, raise, call, or fold. If a player runs out of time, they automatically fold.

๐ŸŽฒ Items

Mulligan โ€” Use this item right after hands have been dealt to choose a number of cards in your hand to discard publicly and then draw that many cards. Double-use.

Plan of Attack โ€”ย The owner of this item chooses their starting island first.

Rip Current โ€” Use this item in a bout to move to an island two spaces away. Single-use.

๐Ÿ’ก Examples

Here are some example islands that may or may not appear in the real map, to give you an idea of how the game may play.

  1. +1 to a card of your choice in your hand.
  2. -2 to a revealed card your opponent owns.
  3. Swap one revealed card you own with one revealed card your opponent owns.
  4. Draw a card, then discard a card.
  5. If you have a 10, it becomes red.

The Actual Map

Some clarifications out of the way:

  • "Lowest card" refers to the card with the lowest value. "Highest card" refers to the card with the highest value.
  • If you have multiple lowest or highest cards, island effects that refer to lowest or highest cards affect all of them.
  • You may choose to swap an unrevealed card with a revealed card. If you do so, the cards also swap their visibility. That is, swapping a revealed 10 with an unrevealed 6 will make it so you now have a revealed 6 and your opponent has an unrevealed 10.
  • If an island makes you change a card's color, you must choose a new color. That is, you cannot "change" a red card into a red card.
  • Neither you nor or your opponent can use a blocked path. The Rip Current item cannot skip across a blocked path.
  • Even if the win condition changes to closest 21 without going over, you still need to form a valid Quattro. That is, we will check who has the 4-card set without duplicate numbers or colors whose sum is closest to 21.
  • For combining two cards, you will select two cards you own to combine to get one card. The value will be the sum of the two values (capped at 10), and the color will depend on this table:

RBGY

+----

R|RBGY

B|BGYR

G|GYRB

Y|YRBG

  • If you combine an unrevealed card with a revealed card, the newly made card is revealed.
