Booster Board

Summary: In this Death Match, boost a rocket onto spaces you own to score points.

Designer(s): elk

Featured in: Bidders' Paradise

Match Type: DM (for 2 players)

Rules:

In this game, players choose how much fuel to give a rocket along a linear track in each turn.

Each player begins the game with 4 fuel, out of a possible maximum of 5.

Each player will be represented by a color (players are free to choose their own hexcode any time between now and the match). Every space along the track is colored as belonging to one of the players, and contains a number between 1 and 5 (inclusive).

In each turn, players will privately choose whether to spend 0, 1, or 2 of their fuel. A player has 1 minute to submit, and if they fail to submit, they will be treated as having submitted 0. The rocket moves a number of spaces equal to the total spent fuel (i.e. 0 to 4 spaces). The space on which the rocket stops moving determines which player scores for that turn (the color of the space) and how many points they score (the number on the space). A player wins a game of Booster Board by scoring 15 points, and a player wins the Death Match by winning 2 games of Booster Board.

At the end of each turn, each player refills their fuel tank by 1 notch, and the rocket "creeps forward" one space (without scoring points for the space it lands on when creeping forward).

The board is constructed according to the following rules, but the board will be unique for each of the three games:

-Players may see the current square, plus the five spaces in front of it, at any given time.

-The board has arbitrarily long length without repetition.

-No player may control 3 consecutive spaces, nor 4 out of 5 consecutive spaces.

-Each individual space has a 25% chance of containing each number 2-4, and a 12.5% chance of containing a 1 or a 5.
