Connections (Part 2)

The game board consists of 36 tiles. Each tile represents a transformation function with input(s) and an output. There are restrictions on what inputs each tile can take - some may be numbers, others may be words or strings of letters. Each function statement is written so that a set of inputs always leads to a consistent output - though multiple inputs may produce the same output. Broadly speaking, central tiles have more complicated functions than corner tiles.

A table of the tiles will be released approximately 24 hours before the DM is played. The table will contain the following pieces of information:

Tile Location | Inputs | Occupied Values

For example, if the transformation function associated with a tile J7 were "xy + 2x + y", the function might appear in the table as J7 | two positive integers | 6, 8

In each round of the DM, players have 90 seconds to take up to two actions:

1) Players submit a test input to any function statement [For example, they could submit Test J7(3, 5).] 2) Players may attempt to guess the result of the occupied values for any function statement. [Guess J7(6, 8) = 31].

Additionally, players may submit 5 test inputs - one to each of five different functions - during the 24 hour period between table reveal and the start of the DM. These tests will be resolved at the start of the first round.

Players may not use an occupied value in their test input for that same function.

The result of each player's test input - and the function tested - will be revealed in the DM chat. A random roll with 1/3 probability will determine whether players' inputs will be revealed or not (the result will be the same for both players). The start of game inputs are not subject to this roll - they will not be revealed.

If a player correctly guesses the result of a function's occupied values, they win that tile and place their piece on it. If they guess incorrectly, they gain a strike on that tile. Three strikes on a tile automatically awards the tile to the opponent. If both players attempt to guess the same tile in the same round - and both are correct or both are incorrect - their guesses will not result in any strikes or tiles awarded.

A player wins the DM by claiming tiles in order to form a bridge from one green border to the other, or to form a bridge from one yellow border to the other. Borders have been expanded, shrinking the board, due to time constraints.
