📖 Rules

🟦 PAHs

In this game players will collect PAH cards.

A card has 3 properties: Background color, Shape and Shape color. Each property has 3 states.

Each card will have one state from each of the properties, for example it can be a Blue Circle on a Black Background. This results in 27 unique PAH cards.

A PAH is a combination of 3 distinct cards so that for each property, 2 cards are the same and 1 is different.

🔍 For example, the following cards make a PAH, as there are 2 black BGs, 2 squares, 2 yellows.

For practice, try to count the number of PAHs in the following image. Note that the same card can be in multiple PAHs.

Game Flow

This game consists of a 24h pregame, 4 24h rounds, and a 24h endgame. The endgame can be cut short if all players lock in and agree.

The game uses a 6x6 board that players will walk on. The board will consist of 9 empty tiles and 27 PAH tiles. The board used will be revealed at the start of round 1

At the start of game (24h from now), players will receive 2 random cards that do not share a state (no two circles, etc).

These 2 cards along with any cards collected during the game will be added to the inventory. Contents of the inventory are not transferrable

:garnet: At any point during the game players can spend 1 garnet to change either starting card to a different card of their choice.

  • In the first round only, players will select an empty tile to start on.
  • During each of the 4 rounds, players will create PAHs, then shift the board and then move.
  • Players can combine 3 cards in their inventory to make a PAH and then choose 1 used card to discard. The other 2 cards will remain in your inventory and can be used again immediately in other PAHs.
  • PAHs created in r2 are worth 7 points, in r3 are worth 6 points, in r4 are worth 5 points and in endgame are worth 4 points.

  • In rounds 1 and 3 players will be shifting rows; in rounds 2 and 4 players will shift columns.
  • Players can choose a row/column to shift 1 space.
  • Shifting wraps around, so moving column D down will put a tile from row 6 into row 1.
  • Shifting does not move players around, so if a tile moves under a player, that players remains stationary.
  • Multiple shifts in the same directions add up; shifts in the opposite direction cancel out.

  • Players can also move up to 3 spaces in any single cardinal direction.
  • For example, moving left thee times is legal, but moving left twice and up once is not.
  • Players may not move in the direction opposite the one they moved in the previous round.
  • For example, if you moved Left in r1, you cannot go Right in r2.
  • Note that movement is not wrap-around, you cannot head off the board.

Players will add every card they pass to their inventory, including the cards they land on and the one they started on. The cards will also remain on the board for other players to collect.

Shifting happens before moving. Moving gives PAH cards, but shifting doesn't.

:garnet: Players can spend 4 garnets to move an additional tile in the same direction.

Change Starting Card garnet purchase can happen once per round and it will take effect before creating PAHs

You can not change your starting card in the endgame with a garnet purchase.

In the endgame, players only combine the cards in the inventory into PAHs; no moving or shifting.

Game End

After the endgame is concluded, scores are tallied.

:ToL: The sole player with the most points wins a ToL.

:EC: The 3 players with the least points become EC.

In case of a tie, players with more PAHs made with the starting cards are ranked higher. In case of further tie, its broken randomly.

:garnet: Players earn 7 garnets for getting a ToL, 5 garnets for dodging and 3 for winning a DM.
