In this game, players attempt to buy notes in an auction in an attempt to create the highest-scoring musical composition.

This game will be held over 6 rounds and a final composing period. During each of the 6 rounds, 8 notes will be up for auction, for a total of 48 notes available. These 48 notes are comprised of each of the 12 pitches of the chromatic scale at 4 different duration levels. The 12 pitches are C, C#, D, D#, E, F, F#, G, G#, A, A#, B and the four durations are whole note (4), half note (2), quarter note (1), and eighth note (½). For example, one note up for auction would be a D quarter note; more notes up for auction would be a D eighth note and a G# whole note.

Each player starts with 500 bidding tokens. Each round, players may choose to bid on any of the 8 notes up for sale. The person to place the highest bid on a note will win the note and add it to their collection. If this is a tie, nobody will gain the note. All bids, regardless of if you won the note or not, will be lost.

After the 6 rounds of auction are over, players have a final 24-hour composing period. During this period, players must use all of their notes in their collection to assemble their final composition. This final composition is what ultimately gives each player points, depending on what conditions the composition fulfills. The conditions and their respective points are as follows:

1: Have your entire composition have a duration divisible by 4. (Points: 8) 2: Have more sharp notes than natural notes in your composition. (Points: 10) 3: Have your entire composition be ascending in pitch. (Points: 10) 4: Have your composition contain four notes of the same duration descending in pitch. (Points: 14) 5: Have your composition contain all four different durations of the same pitch. (Points: 8) 6: Have your composition contain a tritone interval. (Points: 6) 7: Have your composition start and end on the same pitch. (Points: 4) 8: Earn at least 5 notes in a single round. (Points: 10) 9: Have your composition contain 8 eighth notes. (Points: 10) 10: Have your composition not contain a single E note. (Points: 6) 11: Have the following exact pitch sequence in your composition: D E A D. (Points: 8) 12: Your entire composition is in G Major key, E Major key, or B Major key. (Points: 12)

More than one player can get a condition. However, the more players are on a condition, the less points each player will earn. The amount of points a condition gives out is determined by the formula: condition points divided by the number of players who fulfilled that condition, rounded down (remainder is discarded).

In addition, if a player's composition has less than 5 notes, it automatically earns 0 points.

Once all players have submitted their compositions, all compositions are evaluated and earn points. The player whose composition scored the most points wins a single Token of Life. If there is a tie, the player whose composition contains the highest note amongst those who tied wins the Token of Life. If there is once again a tie, the player whose composition contains the highest and longest note amongst those who tied wins the Token of Life. The Elimination Candidate is the player whose composition scored the least amount of points. All players gain a garnet per 8 points they score.

You may use 1 garnet to gain 10 bidding tokens. This cost doubles every time you use it.

Clarification: The amount of bidding tokens you have remaining are announced each round.

Addendum: If there is a tie for last place in points, the winner of the MM determines the EC.

Clarification: You may only bid non-negative integer amount of bidding tokens.

Addendum: @Players must use all of the notes they earn through bids in their final composition. The previous ruling was a carry-over from an earlier version of the rules, my apologies.

Clarification: For Condition 3, "ascending" means strictly ascending — C to C is not considered ascending.
